Pakistani Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif has received an invitation from U.S. President Donald Trump to join the newly proposed Gaza Peace Council.

Radio Pakistan quoted Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi on Sunday, stating that Sharif received a message from Trump inviting Pakistan to be one of the founding members of the council.

The spokesperson added that Pakistan will continue its engagement in international efforts aimed at achieving peace and security in the Gaza Strip and reaching a lasting solution to the Palestinian cause in line with United Nations resolutions.

The Peace Council is set to oversee the work of the Palestinian Technocratic Committee, which is tasked with the temporary administration of the Strip.

The committee aims to supervise the restoration of essential public services, the rebuilding of civil institutions, and the stabilization of daily life in Gaza.
