The inaugural meeting of the Peace Council convened in Washington on Thursday under the leadership of U.S. President Donald Trump, drawing dozens of international delegations to what organizers described as a historic diplomatic gathering.
According to Alqahera News, delegations began arriving early in the morning at the Trump Institute for Peace, which is hosting the first session of the council. The institute was formerly known as the United States Institute of Peace before being renamed during Trump’s presidency.
The president was scheduled to arrive at 9:00 a.m. Washington time. However, it was not immediately possible to confirm his arrival inside the meeting hall, noting that protocol dictates the president first participate in an official “family photo” with senior delegation representatives outside the building before formally opening the session.
Initial reports had indicated participation from 28 countries, but updated figures suggest attendance has expanded to several dozen delegations representing a broad cross-section of states.
Arab participation was described as significant, with countries including Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates represented. European states such as Romania and Albania are also attending. While representation levels vary, American officials dominate the list of scheduled speakers.
The gathering comes amid heightened international attention on efforts to coordinate diplomatic initiatives across multiple global flashpoints.
