U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he is confident Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu and Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa will reach an agreement.
During a joint press conference following their meeting in Florida, Trump mentioned that he and Netanyahu had reached what he described as an "understanding" regarding the situation in Syria.
"I am certain that Israel and the Syrian President will reach an agreement. I will do everything in my power to make that happen," Trump added.
In the same context, Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is keen on ensuring peaceful borders with its neighbor.
"Our interest is to establish peaceful borders with Syria," Netanyahu told reporters during the press conference.
These statements come amid a period of heightened tension, as Israel has launched repeated strikes on Syria since the fall of the previous regime late last year.
Additionally, Israeli forces have advanced several kilometers into Syrian territory.
