US President Donald Trump confirmed Monday evening that the United States has made "great progress" in treating the novel Corona virus “Covid-19", despite the continuing worsening crisis caused by the pandemic in the country.

"We have made great progress in the treatment processes," Trump said at a crisis cell news conference, and he also indicated his administration's efforts to cooperate with specialized companies, stressing that clinical tests were performed on 10 drugs.

He announced the approval to convert a US Marine ship in New York to an anti-Corona hospital.

Trump indicated that billions of dollars will be allocated as aid to American hospitals, and he also said that an agreement had been reached with "3M" Company to supply 166.5 million medical masks.

The US president indicated that 125,000 people are subjected to Corona tests per day in the country, a number he said is the highest among all countries of the world, adding that the US administration is building 22 hospitals for Corona patients in 18 states.

In the context, Trump praised the initiative of the American Apple company to participate in the manufacture of medical masks with high quality, and pledged to provide more than 166 million masks in the coming months, especially to protect medical personnel from infection with the virus.

He stated that he had a serious phone conversation about the Corona crisis with Joe Biden, who is competing for the Democratic Party's nomination for the US presidential elections.

Trump is under fire for his administration's handling of the Corona virus, especially the health sector, but the US president says his government is taking unprecedented measures to address the issue.

The United States has the highest number of infections of the Corona virus with more than 350 thousand cases, and the third in terms of death toll of more than 10 thousand.
