U.S. President Donald Trump said Cuba is a “failed country” and suggested Washington could turn its attention to Cuba after dealing with Iran, as tensions continue over Tehran’s nuclear programme.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said Iran is “very eager” to reach an agreement, adding that U.S. officials had been contacted by the other side seeking progress in negotiations.
The U.S. president reiterated that Iran would never be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon, stressing that any agreement would be conditional on Tehran abandoning such capabilities.
Trump also said previous U.S. administrations regretted not taking stronger action on the issue, underlining his administration’s firm stance on preventing nuclear proliferation.
The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and heightened geopolitical tensions, with Washington balancing pressure and negotiations in its approach toward Iran.
