U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed Egypt's participation in U.S.-Iranian negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing war between the two countries.
In statements to Israel’s Channel 12, he said: "The talks are primarily conducted between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman. However, Qatar, Pakistan, and Egypt, alongside Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, are actively participating in these efforts."
He explained that ongoing negotiations are currently focused on reaching a new agreement that would lead to reopening the Strait of Hormuz and launching talks on a comprehensive nuclear deal.
When asked how much time he is willing to give diplomatic efforts, he replied: "Not very long. Either this moves quickly, or it won't happen at all."
The U.S. President added that "there is nothing to lose and nothing to gain," explaining his reason for responding to the mediators' request and noting that since he suspended the strikes, oil prices have dropped and stock markets have risen.
