On Thursday, U.S. President Donald Trump returned to Washington from his Florida resort to continue his dispute with Congress over a defense bill and COVID-19 aid checks.
In the latest holiday video message, he praised his administration’s accomplishments including handling the COVID-19 pandemic and rebuilding the economy.
“We have to be remembered for what’s been done,” the president said.
He expressed that the United States has produced a COVID-19 vaccine in record time and he had correctly predicted this would come before the year-end.
The United States is one of the countries worst-hit by COVID-19 and leads the world in terms of recorded numbers of deaths and cases.
Trump was originally scheduled to attend a New Year’s Eve party at his Mar-a-Lago resort. Moreover, the White House gave no explanations for Trump's sudden trip to Washington but it is expected to be related to his latest fights with Congress according to Reuters.
