Trump became the first president in US history to be impeached twice, or charged with crimes by Congress.
However, Trump will not be forced to leave the house a week earlier end of his term as, "There is simply no chance that a fair or serious trial could conclude before President-elect Biden is sworn in next week."
Late Sunday, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed that lawmakers will vote on a resolution urging Vice President Mike Pence and cabinet to remove the outgoing President Donald Trump from office, after his supporters’ deadly storming of the Capitol, before moving to impeachment.
In a letter, Pelosi said, “House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on Monday or Tuesday on a resolution urging Pence to resort to the twenty-fifth amendment of the US Constitution that allows him and the cabinet to dismiss the president if he is unable to perform his official duties.”
