US President Donald Trump expressed his frustration with a New York Times report that suggested he has made fewer public appearances in his second term compared to his first, during remarks at the start of a meeting with his cabinet yesterday.

The 79-year-old Trump asserted that he is healthier and smarter now than he was 25 years ago, saying, "There was one day when I didn't do a press conference and the fake news New York Times said, 'Oh, oh, there's something wrong with the president.' You're all crazy. They're all crazy, and all the fake news."

The president added, "I'll tell you when there is something wrong. It will happen someday. That's what will happen to all of us. But right now, I think I'm smarter than I was 25 years ago."

Trump again praised his performance in a cognitive test conducted during his physical examination at Walter Reed Medical Center in October, during which he also underwent an MRI scan, which the White House described as preventative. He said, "I answered all the questions correctly, and then I read in the New York Times, 'Is Trump smart?' They are not smart, and that's why they're going bankrupt, New York Times. I heard you're losing a lot of money, and it's ridiculous. They're a bunch of con artists."
