U.S. President Donald Trump announced that a "future framework agreement" has been reached regarding Greenland and the Arctic region, following what he described as a "highly productive meeting" with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Writing on his "Truth Social" platform on Wednesday evening, Trump stated: "Based on a very productive meeting I had with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, we have reached a framework for a future agreement regarding Greenland and, in fact, the entire Arctic region."
He noted that "this solution, if completed, will be great for the United States of America and all NATO countries," explaining that "based on this understanding, I will not be imposing the tariffs that were scheduled to take effect on February 1st."
Furthermore, Trump revealed that "additional discussions are taking place regarding the 'Golden Dome' project as it relates to Greenland," noting that "more information will be announced as discussions progress."
