The Egyptian Ministry of Transport confirmed that the price of a metro ticket for more than 25 stations did not increase, and is unchanged at EGP 10.
During a conference on Tuesday, the Transport minister Kamel Al-Wazir explained that the value of riding a ticket for more than 25 stations amounts to EGP 10, which could be increased to EGP 12 with the opening of new stages in the third line of the metro.
"It is a logical procedure as the number of stations on more than one line increases in the future, the ticket should increase as well."
The ministry noted the statements of the minister during the press conference on introducing employees moving to the New Administrative Capital to the transportation system to the government district.
The ministry indicated that any increase that is approved will be ratified by the Cabinet, and it will be announced to the public once approved.
Electric Train
He added that the electric train LRT ticket prices include EGP 10 for 3 stations and EGP 15 for 5 stations, while the passenger pays EGP 20 for more than 7 station.
The minster revealed that the prices of electric train tickets represent about 50% of the total operating costs.
