About 50 freight train cars derailed in East Palestine, Ohio, near the border with Pennsylvania, U.S., causing a massive fire.
Rail operator Norfolk Southern said Saturday that the train was carrying a variety of products from Madison, Illinois, to Conway, Pennsylvania.

"Norfolk Southern" explained that 20 of the more than 100 carriages on the train were classified as carrying dangerous materials, and were defined as cargo that could pose any type of danger "including flammable or combustible materials or environmental hazards."

"The fire that followed the derailment extended nearly as long as the derailed train cars," said National Transportation Safety Board member Michael Graham. "Since then, the fire has decreased in intensity, but it is still active and the two main tracks remain closed." .
