Japan's public broadcaster NHK reported on Tuesday that Toyota Motor Corp. has suspended operations at 12 plants in Japan due to a system malfunction.
The authority said it was not yet clear when the order would be restored.
NHK reported that all local factories were affected except for Miyata in Fukuoka, western Japan, and Toyota's Daihatsu in Kyoto.
Operations at the world's largest automaker by sales were halted last year when one of its suppliers was hit by a cyberattack.
Shares of Toyota were down 0.3% at 2,429 yen in early Tokyo trade.
