On Sunday, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Sherif Fathi, received Ebisawa Yu, the new head of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) office in Egypt, upon assuming his duties.
The meeting unfolded in the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) — a symbol of Egypt’s rich heritage and a milestone in Egyptian-Japanese cooperation— and focused on enhancing cooperation between the two nations, the ongoing projects, and future plans in the field of tourism and antiquities.
Discussions also touched on increasing Japanese tourist visits to Egypt and leveraging exchange expertise and improving the capabilities of cadres in the archaeological work, and GEM's cooperation strategy to become the largest regional research center for the study of Egyptology and museums.
