Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Eissa met with H.E. András Imre KOVÁCS, Ambassador of Hungary in Cairo, to discuss enhancing tourism and archaeological cooperation between Egypt and Hungary.
During the meeting, the two officials stressed the need to enhance mutual relations between the two states which witnessed fruitful cooperation in many fields, especially tourism and antiquities.
They also reviewed indicators of the incoming tourist movement from Hungary to Egypt during the last period and discussed promoting Egypt's tourism.
Their meeting further highlighted the excavation work carried out by the three Hungarian archaeological missions operating in Egypt, and cooperation in the file of recovering antiquities that left the country illegally, in addition to the possibility of cooperation in the field of training, excavation work, and museums.
Issa discussed the possibility of organizing an exhibition in Egypt dealing with the work of the Hungarian archaeologist Max Herz, who lived in Egypt during the period between the 19th and 20th centuries, and highlighting his work in the field of archaeological work.
On his part, the ambassador of Hungary also invited the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary to the Minister to visit Hungary and participate in organizing a business forum on tourism, in which a large number of travel and tourism agents will participate.
In the same context, Issa held a meeting with the Ambassador of Burundi in Cairo H.E. Sheikh Malashi Rashid Nabragira, and his accompanying delegation, to discuss strengthening aspects of cooperation between Egypt and Burundi in the field of tourism.
