Sherif Fathy, Egypt's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, chaired the board meeting of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion at the ministry's headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
During the meeting, Fathy emphasized the ministry's strategic vision to position Egypt as the world’s most diverse tourist destination.
He highlighted the importance of collaborating with private sector partners, including local and international tour operators, to effectively showcase Egypt's vast array of tourism experiences. This partnership aims to integrate Egypt's unique tourism products into global travel itineraries, enhancing its appeal to international visitors.
Fathy also discussed ongoing efforts to innovate and expand Egypt's tourism offerings, focusing on developing new products and experiences that highlight the country's rich cultural and historical heritage.
He stressed that these initiatives are crucial for maintaining Egypt's competitive edge in the global tourism market.
The meeting included a review of the Authority's key activities from July to December 2024. These activities focused on targeted promotional efforts across several international markets. The Authority participated in 14 international tourism exhibitions and launched 19 joint international promotional campaigns in collaboration with tour operators and airlines.
Moreover, around 36 familiarization and press trips to Egypt were organized to provide firsthand experiences of the country’s attractions. The Authority also intensified its digital marketing initiatives, working closely with influencers and bloggers on social media to reach a wider audience.
A detailed update on the development of the Authority's website was also presented during the meeting. The website, which serves as Egypt's primary digital gateway for tourism promotion, has been enhanced with updated content across various sections and translated into four new languages to cater to a broader audience.
The discussion also covered domestic promotional activities, including sponsoring local events, supporting cultural and tourism initiatives, and organizing educational campaigns to raise awareness about Egypt's tourism and archaeological sites. These initiatives aim to promote local tourism and encourage a deeper appreciation of Egypt's rich cultural heritage among residents.
Towards the end of the meeting, the board approved the minutes of the previous session and reviewed the international tourism fair schedule for the fiscal year 2024/2025. The review took into consideration the level of participation from the private tourism sector, ensuring a collaborative approach to promoting Egypt on the global stage.
