The Tourism Minister, Sherif Fathy, officially inaugurated the Egyptian pavilion at the World Travel Market (WTM) London 2024 on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.
The inauguration was attended by Egypt's Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Sherif Kamel, along with Amr el-Qadi, the CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Authority.
In his remarks, Minister Fathy said that his Ministry aims to convey various marketing messages regarding Egypt's travel destinations through its participation in WTM London, which is set to conclude its activities in the British capital on Thursday.
He further emphasized that the pavilion will also showcase tourism investment opportunities available in Egypt.
He also hold a press conference on the sidelines of his visit to London, where he presented an analysis of the incoming tourist traffic to Egypt from various markets since the beginning of the year, indicating an anticipated increase of 5% in tourist numbers by the end of the year compared to the previous year.
He emphasized the significance of the British market for Egyptian tourism, identifying it as one of the primary target markets, with 77 flights arriving weekly from various cities in the United Kingdom, reflecting a growing influx of tourists.
The Minister asserted that Egypt is a robust nation committed to peace, security, and safety, prioritizing the protection of its borders and the well-being of its visitors. He highlighted that the country remains unaffected by geopolitical events and noted the diverse nationalities of tourists, with visitors from over 174 countries having traveled to Egypt this year.
Additionally, the Minister showcased a variety of tourism products available in Egypt, emphasizing their diversity.
He outlined the Ministry's current strategy, which focuses on promoting Egypt as the premier global destination known for its wide range of tourism styles and products, while also working on the development of each tourism style and product individually.
