On Monday, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El Anany participated in World Tourism Organization’s Crisis Committee meeting in Madrid, discussing, in particular, the challenges posed by the pandemic to the tourism sector.
El Anany was accompanied by Egypt’s ambassador in Madrid Omar Salim and a number of the embassy’s officials.
A number of Tourism ministers and officials of more than 30 countries took part in the meeting.
Many topics were discussed such as how to boost tourism under the COVID-19 pandemic, and the criteria of applying the protective measures against the Coronavirus.
The meeting came a day before the opening of the 13th edition of UNWTO executive board sessions. The opening session will be headed by the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The executive board will elect the organization’s new secretary-general on Tuesday.
