World Population Day is commemorated today to raise awareness about global population issues and to educate individuals on family planning, gender equality, and reproductive health.

The theme for World Population Day 2024 is "To Leave No One Behind, Count Everyone."

Since 1989, July 11 has been designated as World Population Day, following the global population surpassing five billion. The current estimated population stands at 8.1 billion, with India being the most populous nation at 1.44 billion, slightly exceeding China's population.

An article titled "Myths about Population Growth" was authored by this individual and was published in this publication on World Population Day (July 11, 1997) when India reached a population of 100 crores. The article debunked the predictions of Malthus and his modern-day followers in the West, who forecasted that population growth would outpace food production.

The purpose of this article is to examine the changes that have occurred in the past 27 years.
