TikTok Cuts Job in India

After the Indian government announced a ban on 59 Chinese apps, including TikTok last week, which is operated by Chinese internet firm Bytedance, as Indian relations with China deteriorated, it said that all apps were prejudicial to the sovereignty and integrity of India.

The app TikTok has cut its workforce in India after hundreds of millions of its users dropped it to comply with a government ban on dozens of Chinese apps amid a military standoff between the two countries.

According to U.S News report, the china’s government criticized Indian moves to ban Baidu, TikTok and other popular Chinese apps and appealed to New Delhi to get economic ties back on track.

Meanwhile, the media reports say the company has more than 2,000 employees in India. It expressed the hope it will get a chance to relaunch TikTok in India to support hundreds of millions of users, artists, storytellers, educators and performers.

Moreover, the Italian Data Protection Authority reported in a statement, that it would block the app with immediate effect until 15 February, by which date the network would have to meet the regulator’s demands.

ByteDance was founded in 2012 by Zhang Yimin. In May 2020, the company was valued at more than $ 100 billion. Later Bloomberg statedthat the company wants to go public, but before that it plans to attract investors and increase its value to $ 180 billion before its initial public offering in Hong Kong.
