On Saturday, the Tigray People's Liberation group claimed its responsibility for launching missiles at two airports near the area.

The group threatened to attack Eritrea due to the increasing conflict with the federal government.

A senior member of the group, Getachew Reda said: "Yesterday evening, we inflicted great damage on the military components of the Gondar and Bahir Dar airports."

Reda continued: "We will launch missile attacks to thwart any military movements in Massawa and Asmara."

The central government confirmed that the two airports were "damaged", while a doctor in Kunder said that two soldiers were killed and about 15 were wounded.

Reda stressed previous accusations directed by the Tigray People's Liberation group about the participation of Eritrean soldiers in the battles, the thing that Ethiopia denied.

The attacks sent fears that the conflict may exacerbate and cause instability in the entire Horn of Africa.

Especially, after the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announcement that his forces would carry out a rapid and limited operation.
