An earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck the southeast coast of the island of Hawaii, USA, following lava flows from the crater of the Kilauea volcano.
The US Geological Survey said Thursday, according to the American (Al-Hurra) channel, that the epicenter of the quake occurred about 7.5 miles southeast of Pahala and 47 miles southwest of Hilo, at a depth of about 20 miles.
On the other hand, the American Center for Seismology announced that a 6.1-magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines on Wednesday night, Thursday, without causing any damage or casualties.
The tremor, which was not deep, hit the central Philippine island of Masbate today, Thursday, and no tsunami warning was issued.
However, the Emergency Department in the Russian province of Irkutsk announced today, Thursday, that an earthquake measuring 5.9 degrees occurred in the Lake Baikal basin.
The department stated, according to Russia Today (RT) news channel, that a tremor was recorded in the Irkutsk region in the waters of Lake Baikal, 18 km from the villages of Bolshoi and Loostnoye, and no information was received about injuries or damage.
