Terrified Ukrainians fleed to Poland, escaping potential violence as Russia declared war and started invading their country by land, air and sea.
The Polish government affirmed that Poland is setting up eight reception centers and hospitals to deal with the expected rush of people fleeing the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
“We have to be ready, the next 24 hours will be key,” Deputy Internal Affairs Minister Paweł Szefernaker said, asserting that Poland will make sure refugees receive food, medical help and information at the centers.
Moreover, Adam Niedzielski, the health minister, stated that Poland will set up a special medical train to ferry injured people to 120 Polish hospitals.
“We think that at this moment it would be possible to accept several thousand patients — wounded in military actions,” Niedzielski noted.
Early this morning, Russian troops invaded Ukraine and crossed its borders into the eastern cities of Chernihiv, Kharkiv and Luhansk.
Russian actions made Europe live a nightmare of violence and bloodshed not seen since the darkest days of World War II.
