On Sunday, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) announced the displacement of 1,753 families due to the floods that have occurred in Yemen since the beginning of this year 2023.

UNICEF said in a statement indicated that in response to this crisis, it is providing life-saving assistance to the most vulnerable individuals.

The statement added that emergency teams have been deployed to assess the damage in 50 districts and 12 affected governorates, including providing the necessary support to families affected by the floods.

Conflict, floods, and heavy rains have forced many Yemenis to leave their homes, overburdening displacement, and shelter camps, according to the statement.

Aware of their urgent need, UNICEF assisted 4,989 newly displaced families, numbering 34,923 people.

It is noteworthy that since last March, the flood season began in Yemen, which led to the death of dozens of people, and affected many citizens, especially the displaced.
