Thousands of residents have fled Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, two neighborhoods in northern Aleppo, as ongoing shelling and drone strikes escalate the conflict between Syrian government forces and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Civil defense authorities report that 2,324 civilians have been evacuated to government-held areas such as Al-Midan, Al-Suryan, Sheikh Taha, and Al-Khalidiya, while some families have moved to other Syrian cities and provinces. Evacuations are sometimes delayed due to heavy crowds and security coordination.

Syrian government forces are targeting areas from which rocket fire originates, supported by drones conducting reconnaissance.

Meanwhile, SDF militants have reportedly escalated attacks, including firing indiscriminate rockets and deploying suicide drones. Officials say several drones were successfully neutralized using electronic jamming.

The densely populated neighborhoods, home to over 100,000 residents, make precision critical to minimize civilian casualties, as both sides maneuver for tactical advantage.
