Egyptian Artist Sanaa Shafaa Passes Away

 Sanaa Shafea, The Egyptian actor and former dean of the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts, passed away on Wednesday after a long struggle with his illness at the age of 77.

Culture Minister Inas Abdel Dayem said that Shafea "formed a dramatic milestone in the Egyptian theatrical performance, and succeeded in making a special kind of stardom as he excelled at the performing complex characters and producing a group of immortal works."

Ashraf Zaki, head of the acting professions, said: "The body will be taken out of Shabrawishi Hospital and will go to the cemeteries of October 6 on the Al-Wahat Road (west of the capital). Till now, no funeral has been decided."

Shafea was born in 1943 in the governorate of Assiut, before moving to Cairo. He started his artistic career out of a hobby, yet he was keen on academic studies, so he joined the Higher Institute for Dramatic Arts, and traveled on an educational mission to Germany, and then moved up to occupy academic positions until he held the position of dean of the institute.

He left a great credit for television series, the most prominent of which are (Children of Adam), (Omar bin Abdul Aziz), (Bab Al-Khalq), (Al-Safaa), (Al-Sayyad), (After the Beginning), (Al-Mizan), (My Share and Your Division) and (Abu Jabal) And (Layalina 80).
