A US official revealed in a press statement that the United States will maintain approximately 82,000 troops in Europe as part of a carefully considered military redeployment plan aligned with the priorities of US President Donald Trump's administration.
He explained that the approximately 3,000 troops being withdrawn from Romania were part of the reinforcements sent following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2012, emphasizing that the decision is part of a comprehensive review of the US military presence on the continent.
This move comes at a time of escalating tensions in Europe due to the ongoing war in Ukraine and growing calls within Europe to strengthen its own defense capabilities.
