Diplomats said that the 193-nation United Nations General Assembly is likely to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, on a draft resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire on humanitarian grounds in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip, according to Reuters news agency.
The move comes after the United States on Friday vetoed a similar demand in the UN Security Council.
Last October, the General Assembly adopted a resolution, with 121 votes in favor, 14 against, and 44 abstentions, calling for an “immediate, permanent and sustainable humanitarian truce leading to a cessation of hostilities” in the Gaza Strip after the continuation of confrontations between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation forces for 65 days.
