Today, Monday, the Supreme Court of the United States of America returned Donald Trump to the 2024 presidential primaries, rejecting attempts to hold the former Republican president accountable for the Capitol riots, according to what was published by “AP.”
“States cannot, without first taking congressional action, invoke a post-Civil War constitutional provision to prevent the names of presidential candidates from appearing on the ballot,” the US Supreme Court said in a statement.
She added: "The former president was not convicted of rebellion in any trial, and this prevents his removal from candidacy without a decision from Congress."
The Washington Post expected that former US President Donald Trump would dominate the primary races scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, in what is known as Super Tuesday, which will be held in 15 states, representing about a third of the party’s delegates who will ultimately vote to choose the candidate at the party’s convention in the summer. The newspaper believed that the results of those elections were testing the speed with which Republicans would rally behind the former president.
