The Sudanese Army published a map on Thursday that it said shows the areas it controls across the country, compared to the remaining areas still controlled by the Rapid Support Forces. This came after the armed forces announced they had retaken new locations in the capital, Khartoum, including the Republican Palace, sovereign ministries, and Khartoum International Airport.
The Sudanese Army said in a statement accompanied by a new map showing its control areas that "the Sudanese Armed Forces and other regular forces, supported by the Sudanese people, are continuing their cleansing operations in the country... on the path to ending the rebellion, spreading security and stability, and embarking on reconstruction and development throughout the country."
The map, which the army published on social media, indicated in green the areas controlled by the Sudanese Army, while the map indicated in red the areas controlled by the Rapid Support Forces.
On Wednesday, the Chairman of Sudan's Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, visited the Republican Palace in the capital, Khartoum, which the army had seized last week, marking one of the biggest gains in the nearly two-year-long conflict with the Rapid Support Forces.
