The pinnacle of elegance and charm, late iconic actress Ragaa El-Gedawy shared a meaningful, lifelong friendship with famed Egyptian fashion designer Hany El-Behairy.
This bond fruited many collaborations, where their final were held on December 23, 2019, in which they presented a distinctive collection under the name of, “Ragaa El-Gedawy”, which is suitable for women after forty.
We, critics and fashion writers, are used to attending El-Behairy fashion shows held annually in December, who always entered the show with his mother on one side and El-Gedawy on the other.
In a statement to “SEENews”, El-Behairy stressed that the late actress was one of the reasons he presented fashion shows in Egypt 11 years ago, and raising “Made in Egypt” slogan along with Mrs. Samia Aboul Fotouh.
El-Behairy reckoned that she has received numerous accolades from many international forums and insisted on wearing the Egyptian industry— including being honored from Spanish Arab fashion in Spain, which opened its 300-year-old palace for her.
The ceremony was attended by the sister of Spain's King, the Egyptian Ambassador and his wife, as well as several princesses and countesses.
He pointed out that she appeared in all her elegance and presence, as usual, wearing his designs made by Egyptian hands.
El-Behairy added: “She was supportive of me, and was a true comrade, friend, sister, mother, and daughter,”
El-Behairy pointed out that she was the only one allowed to enter the atelier at any time and advised his employees.
He continued:” Once an employee had quit the job, and then returned after a while, I found her talking to him in a motherly manner and telling him how could he leave work with Hany,”
“Before every fashion show, she and two of her close friends were keen to visit me, to enter and check out the collection before the show and tell me her opinion, which I cared about very much,” El-Behairy added.
He concluded by saying “May God have mercy on the icon of elegance, politeness, taste, affection, and courtesy, Ragaa El-Gedawy”.
