The Palestinian Prisoners Club confirmed that the scale of arrests and targeting of women in the West Bank is witnessing a continuous and unprecedented escalation, with the number of female prisoners in Israeli jails and detention camps rising to approximately 95. This figure was previously recorded during the height of the genocide.
According to the Palestinian News Agency WAFA, the Palestinian Prisoners Club stated that this increase came after Israeli forces arrested three women early Monday morning from the town of Kobar, northwest of Ramallah, the city of Jenin, and the Ain refugee camp in Nablus. Among those arrested was the wife of a prisoner. Additionally, Israeli forces arrested four female students from Birzeit University last week, all of whom were transferred to the Al-Maskubiya detention center. A young woman with a physical disability was also arrested in Ramallah.
He explained that the data and testimonies that have been received successively regarding the violations committed against female prisoners have exceeded, in terms of their size and level, what was recorded in any previous stage, as a result of the escalation of systematic repression operations that are accompanied by severe beatings, in addition to the ongoing practices of abuse and humiliation.
