The New York Times reported moments ago that a spokeswoman for the US military in Washington acknowledged reports of explosions in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, but said she had no information regarding any American involvement.
In the same context, a Pentagon spokesman redirected all inquiries about the incident to the White House.
In turn, the White House declined to comment on the reports of explosions in Caracas.
As of now, the cause of the blasts remains unclear, amid growing regional tensions and a lack of official statements clarifying what occurred.
In the same context, Colombian President Gustavo Petro claimed on social media that Caracas was under attack.
“Right now they are bombing Caracas. Alert to the whole world, they have attacked Venezuela. They are bombing with missiles,” Petro wrote.
However, there has been no official confirmation or independent evidence to support claims that the explosions were the result of military action.
