We need a Minister of Education able to get rid of the bogeyman of Thanaweya Amma.

To when will Thanaweya Amma remain like a terror in every Egyptian home? For more than thirty years, I have been following up, investigating, criticizing, opposing, and supporting ideas and systems about Thanaweya Amma. I have lived through many experiences that officials tried to implement to make it a normal year like the rest of the years, but all of them did not succeed despite the good intentions that were presented.

The systems were numerous and the experiences varied, but Thanaweya Amma is still representing a terror at every home. Sometimes it becomes one year, then it becomes two years, and ideas were put forward to make it three years, and all of them, unfortunately, were in the interest of the private tutoring mafia, then took control and became a popular market for which licensed buildings, centres, and departments were established to embrace hundreds of students per class.

I do not know how a private lesson can take place in a centre embracing hundreds of students in front of a teacher who explains through a microphone so that his voice reaches everyone and the students accept such lessons, and the teacher explains his lessons like an acrobat, until the teachers become famous stars. It turned to be "This is the Whale of Chemistry" , "the Ghoul of Physics", " the prince of English", " the Lion of Mathematics", and other names and descriptions that have been given to them or they have given to themselves. Parents, may God help them, bear a great financial, psychological, and physical burden to help their children pass the year of terror!.

This year, exams coincide with an intense heat wave that the country is experiencing, accompanied by lightening of loads by cutting off electricity. I hope that God will ease the heat wave and I hope that electricity officials will take into account the conditions of our students.

I pray for the students from my heart.

May God grant them success and pass this year's exmas. I also pray for all officials to succeed in tackling this horror in which every Egyptian home lives!

As we await the announcement of the new ministerial formation, I hope that an education minister will be appointed to study our experiences and the experiences of other countries and begin with what others have concluded, and I wish that he will be able to get rid of this frightening multifaceted bogeyman!
