The Ministry of Youth and Sports organized a major event on Saturday on the occasion of World Diabetes Day at the Olympic Center in Maadi, and it was held under the theme of “Your Health Matters More.” The event saw the participation of several partners such as the world-famed drug maker AstraZeneca.
Regarding the activities of the day, it included a race walking marathon, and it was followed by a seminar about the means of prevention from Diabetes.
On his side, Dr Gamal Shaaban, the head of Misr Foundation For Health and Sustainable Development’s head of trustees, expressed that the event targeted raising the awareness of people to diabetes, and its dangers. He added that the participation of youth can improve their mental mood and health.
While Dr Ahmed El Sabaa’wy who is specialized in diabetes said that raising the awareness of people about the disease and the support that family can give.
AstraZeneca’s representative Dr Yasmin Hassan that the company support millions around the world to teach them more information about diabetes, related diseases, Having and a diet.
On her side, Dr Rihab El Fakharny expressed the keenness of the Misr Foundation For Health and Sustainable Development through its social role by encouraging people to play sports as it reduces the rates of diabetes in blood or heart diseases.
Finally, the ministry honoured several icons and figures such as young politicians, and members of parliament, and Coordination of Parties’ Youth and Politicians members.
