Despite the Iranian regime’s continued efforts to portray itself as stable and resilient, recent political and social developments reveal a very different reality. Evidence from inside Iran points to growing structural weakness within the ruling establishment, while public opposition continues to expand and organized resistance demonstrates increasing capacity to challenge repression and authoritarian rule.

Ramesh Sepehrrad, Chairwoman of the Advisory Council of the Organization of Iranian American Communities (OIAC), stated:

“Decades of appeasement and attempts to moderate the behavior of the Iranian regime have produced only more repression at home and greater instability abroad. The real solution lies in empowering the Iranian people and recognizing their legitimate right to bring about democratic change.”

She emphasized that the January 2026 uprising and the waves of protests preceding it demonstrated that Iranian society rejects all forms of dictatorship, whether religious or hereditary. “The Iranian people reject both a return to the past and the continuation of the current system based on repression, executions, and the denial of fundamental freedoms,” she said.

Sepehrrad noted that the growing role of Resistance Units inside Iran reflects a new level of organization and determination to continue the struggle for freedom. Despite arrests, executions, and internet restrictions, these networks have continued their activities, demonstrating that the desire for change remains strong throughout Iranian society.

She also highlighted the importance of the major Iranian gathering scheduled for June 20, 2026, in Paris, where tens of thousands of Iranians and supporters of democracy will unite to support the Iranian people’s right to determine their future and to present a democratic alternative based on free elections, separation of religion and state, and full gender equality.

She concluded: “The real confrontation today is not between the regime and foreign powers, but between the Iranian people and a regime that has lost its legitimacy. All indicators suggest that Iran’s future will be shaped by the will of its people and their organized resistance, leading to a free and democratic republic founded on popular sovereignty, justice, and respect for human rights.”
