At least three people were killed, and thousands remained without power after severe storms swept through several US states, as a severe storm and tornadoes hit Martin County, Indiana, according to the American newspaper "The Hill."

The US newspaper said that the authorities confirmed the death and injury of another in a house, which was located in an area where several trees fell due to strong winds.

It also reported that another tornado struck Johnson County, south of Indianapolis, damaging 75 homes.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis issued a series of warnings for the area, warning residents of severe storm surges that could bring tornadoes and high winds.

The weather service said it would conduct a damage survey in the affected areas of Indiana.

"Storms are building up over Indiana, and these storms may get faster as they move east," she added.
