The Guardian, a UK daily newspaper, said that successive heat waves threaten nature's ability to provide food for humans, according to what researchers say.

The experts warn of a "silent, invisible death" in the oceans in light of record temperatures scorching the land.

The newspaper pointed out that heat waves are sweeping Europe, the United States of America (USA) and China, and the hottest global day ever was recorded at the beginning of July, endangering human life as well as the land and sea on which it depends.

Dr. John Marsham, professor of meteorology at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom (UK), said: "The food system is global, and there is an increasing risk of massive interconnected crop losses in different parts of the world, which will affect food availability and prices."

Marsham stressed that the planet is not witnessing this at present, but in the coming decades, it will be one of the things he fears.

The newspaper stated that the heat wave that hit Europe in 2018 had led to massive crop failures and a 50% yield loss in central and northern regions of Europe. And in 2022, record temperatures in the United States led to the spoilage of vegetables and fruits in agriculture.
