Rail services across England halted again on Saturday as 12,000 train drivers went on strike for the second time this week amid a long-running dispute with operating companies over wages and conditions, according to the Guardian, a British daily newspaper.

Drivers' union members are striking for 24 hours on the majority of lines in England and some cross-border routes to Scotland and Wales, leaving only 40% of services running.

Some networks will not run any trains at all, the British newspaper said, while others will offer a reduced schedule.

Saturday's strike will disrupt anyone trying to travel to the weekend's many big sporting and cultural events, including the FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United at Wembley, Epsom Derby, and the final stop of Beyoncé's Renaissance tour.

In London, the strike also affects families planning semester trips.
