Universal Pictures unveiled Wednesday its first glimpse at "The Forever Purge", the fifth and alleged final movie in the Purge franchise.

The trailer ran for a little more than two minutes long and featured numerous, brutal punches.

"The Forever Purge" stars Ana de la Reguera, Josh Lucas Tenoch Huerta, and others. Everardo Gout directed from a screenplay by James DeMonaco.

The plot revolves around a rogue group that continues to carry out a murderous spree after the 12-hour Purge period expires.

Just as with the rest of the franchise, The newest installment has plenty of intense moments and also addressed political issues, such as highlighting Mexico opening its borders for a few hours to allow the newly-hunted to seek refuge.

"The Forever Purge" was initially set to be released last summer, but like most projects, was pushed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The franchise allocated more than $466 million at the global box office against a combined production budget of just $36 million. Set in the near future, the storyline centers on an annual holiday known as the Purge and a 12-hour period where all crimes are allowed.

"The Forever Purge" will be released in theaters on July 2.
