Mehdi Oghbai, Member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated that the nationwide campaign carried out by Resistance Units in Tehran and dozens of Iranian cities during Ali Khamenei's funeral demonstrates that the regime, despite unprecedented security measures, can no longer prevent the organized resistance from operating inside the country.
He said the timing of the campaign was highly significant, showing that while the authorities sought to use the funeral to project unity and strength, Resistance Units successfully displayed the images of the Resistance leadership and anti-regime slogans in the heart of Iran's cities.
Oghbai stressed that the regime's principal challenge today lies inside Iran rather than beyond its borders, and that the growing factional disputes, political infighting, and leadership crisis all reflect mounting fear of expanding popular resistance.
He added that the slogan "No to the Shah, No to the Mullahs" represents the Iranian people's rejection of every form of dictatorship, whether religious or monarchical, while reaffirming that Iran's future belongs to neither the current regime nor a return to the past.
According to Oghbai, recent developments once again demonstrate the failure of both appeasement and foreign military intervention. Instead, they highlight the viability of the Third Option: supporting the Iranian people's right to overthrow dictatorship through their organized Resistance and Resistance Units operating throughout the country.
He concluded that the continued activities of Resistance Units, despite severe repression, executions, and surveillance, show that the regime is steadily losing its ability to intimidate society. As internal crises deepen and divisions within the ruling establishment widen, Iran is entering a new phase in which democratic change will ultimately be achieved by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance.
