The Egyptian Deputy Minister of Tourism Ghada El Shalaby participated in the World for Travel Nîmes Forum in southern France today.
The forum lasts for two days, with more than 100 speakers, academics, politicians and heads of global businesses and industrialists, who are interested in the travel sector.
Shalaby said COP27 is an event that will bring together more than 120 world leaders to talk about climate change, to help keep our planet healthy for future generations, as well as the impact of global warming on sea levels and ski resorts that will be significantly affected if no action was taken.
"Egypt has taken measures on the ground and developed plans to achieve this goal; under the directives of the President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi."
She said that travel plays a big role in COP27, and that Egypt is focusing on the hotel sector, considering it a roadmap towards sustainability, and creating job opportunities. "One of the advantages is also that we have an airport powered by solar energy, the Sharm El Sheikh International Airport."
She talked about the most important projects, which are currently being implemented in Egypt, including the "Decent Life", which aims to alleviate the burdens of citizens in the most needy communities in the countryside and urban slums, in addition to the comprehensive development of the most needy rural communities with the aim of eliminating multidimensional poverty.
