Cabinet Approves First Nano Faculty in Cairo Univ.

The Council of Ministers has approved the first Faculty of Nano to be established in Cairo University.

It will be the first faculty  in Egypt, the Arab world and the Middle East. The school year commences by the next fall.

The new faculty aims to prepare a wide range of researchers and technicians in the nano field. Curricula will be prepared to answer needs of job market in Egypt, Africa and the Arab countries.

Dr Mohamed Osman El Khost, President of Cairo University, said that programs of the Faculty of Nano Technology include a number of majors which are very important for the  Egyptian national projects.

The new faculty will grant masters degree at engineering technologies of the nanotic applications. The program will be prepared in cooperation with the European Union (EU) to empower graduates of faculties of Pharmacy, Sciences and Computing.

Another programs of bio-nano applications will be introduces to the graduates along two technical diplomas in the solar energy and restoring antiquities.

Dr El Khosht added that launching of the new faculty of nano technologies is a wide step. It will be later converted to a university of the third generation.

He affirmed that the higher studies in the nano field aim to participate in the whole development through upgrading researches and empowering cadres for jobs in the future. The nano applications are expected to draw futurist maps of sciences.

They will be engine of the world economy as they take part in producing of energy, desalinating of sea water, synthesis of new materials with unique characteristics that would be used in heavy industries and building.

The nanotic applications also extend to medical and pharmaceutical fields.

They will be used in producing medicaments, treating and manufacturing denture and prosthetic limbs.

The learning program will adopt the authorized system by using the most modernized ways in the world along with programs of the computerized learning and virtual laboratories.

The president pointed out that it has trained professors at all fields such as engineering, medicine, sciences, agriculture, pharmacy and laser.

The Egyptian Center for Nano Technologies affiliated to Cairo University has distinguished relations with other universities and the international research centers across the world.

Dr El Khost stressed that all administrative procedures will be taken within an integrated frame based on technologies of modern communications as the envisioned faculty will be the first intelligent one in Egypt.
