Egypt has honored 50 great physicians who have contributed greatly in different fields.
The activities of Egypt Medical Forum started on Sunday with the participation of a number of the country's senior doctors, including Dr. Ashraf Hatem, Chairman of the Health Parliamentary Committee and former Minister of Health, Dr. Adel El-Adawy, Chairman of the Egyptian Medical Association, Dr. Hala Youssef, former Minister of Health and Population and Dr. Waheed Doss, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Hepatitis, and others.
During the forum, 50 most influential doctors who have the enriched the Egyptian medical life were honored.
The list included ministers, leading figures, researchers and scientists, as well as inspiring doctors who became role models for their comrades.
Dr. Sherif El-Manawy, the former head of the audiology unit at the Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine - Cairo University was at the head of these figures who were honored during the forum.
Dr. Sherif graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and became an ear, nose and throat surgeon.
After that, he was appointed as a teaching assistant at the Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine to be the first Egyptian doctor specialized in cochlear implants.
Unfortunately, he had a car accident that left him with quadriplegia, while he is still in the early years of his career.
Dr. Sherif has courageously decided to continue his medical career from his wheelchair for 21 years, during which he obtained a PhD degree in audiology and was promoted to the head of the audiology unit at the Faculty of Medicine, to be the first person with quadriplegia to head a department in Egyptian universities.
At the same time, he was appointed as the head of the audiology unit at the Children's Cancer Hospital Egypt 57357 (CCHE) widely known as Hospital 57357.
On August 7th, Dr. Sherif El-Manawy passed away, leaving a great story of success for a doctor whose disease or injury did not stop him from carrying out his duties.
He had become a source of inspiration to thousands of students, doctors, patients and children and deserved the title of the 'Smiling Warrior'.
