Thanaweya Amma Exams' Marathon Begins Amid Corona Concerns

Thanaweya Amma (High school) exams' marathon began earlier Sunday under unprecedented measures due to the coronavirus outbreak.

At least 563,389 students across all the republic are set to attend this years' exams.

The Egyptian government has taken a number of strict precautionary measures to secure the students during the exams' period, including:

1-The sterilization of committee rooms before and after each exam; the students will wait outside in open areas to maintain social distancing.

2- The students will enter exams' committees in a distanced queue two meters apart, starting from 8:00 am with no student allowed entry after 9:00 am.

2-Disinfection tools will be distributed among all students to protect them from infection.

3-Every committee will be equipped with forehead thermometers, as well as a doctor and ambulance ready for any coronavirus infections.

4- The examination papers have been disinfected, wrapped and placed inside locked metal boxes.

Moreover, the Education Minister Tarek Shawky decided that final year students of the thanaweya amma exams have the option to adjourn their exams until next year, with no impact on their school degree or risk of failure that year.

It is worth mentioning that, Egypt has so far registered 53758 coronavirus cases, including 2106 deaths.
