Thailand summoned the Iranian ambassador to Bangkok on Thursday following an attack on a Thai cargo ship near the Strait of Hormuz, which resulted in a fire on board and the disappearance of three crew members.
The Thai Foreign Ministry announced that it had requested an explanation from the Iranian ambassador regarding the circumstances of the incident, demanding that Tehran apologize for the damage to the ship, which was struck by a projectile while transiting the strait on Wednesday, forcing its crew to abandon ship.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, in a statement carried by the Tasnim news agency, said that the ship was fired upon by Iranian fighters after ignoring warnings.
