Tesla is expected to warn that its 'guard mode', which records the vehicle's surroundings, threatens to violate data privacy laws in Germany, according to Reuters.

Consumer Protection group Verbraucherzentrale Bundesverband "vzbv" sued Tesla for not mentioning in advertisements that its 'guard mode', which records the vehicle's surroundings, violates data privacy laws in Germany, and is expected to announce the violation.

A series of disputes came out from China, and the Netherlands over the cameras in Tesla cars, which authorities fear could lead to unauthorized filming.

Tesla said the cameras are designed to protect against theft or vandalism.

Last July, a vzbv suit filed alleged that the automaker was misleading consumers by failing to inform them in advertisements that a driver might breach data protection regulations if the feature was used in public and without the knowledge, of who is being filmed.

"The company issued a cease and desist declaration stating that it would no longer advertise in this way," according to a statement from vzbv.

"The driver is responsible for turning off cameras in public places," a spokesman for Berlin's data protection agency said, adding that liability would extend to the company if the images were stored by Tesla.
