Tesla has launched a new six-seat version of its Model Y SUV in the US as the electric vehicle maker looks to revive demand following the end of a key federal tax incentive.
The new variant is priced at $61,990 at launch, according to Tesla's website.
Rather than introducing entirely new models, Tesla has focused on offering additional versions of its Model Y and Model 3 vehicles to stimulate sales.
The company previously introduced the longer Model Y L in China, helping support sales despite intense competition from BYD and other domestic manufacturers. Tesla later expanded the model to other Asia-Pacific markets.
The three-row version offers a driving range of about 520 kilometers on a single charge and is expected to help boost US demand after sales slowed following the removal of the federal EV tax credit last year.
The launch came after Tesla reported record second-quarter deliveries that topped Wall Street expectations, driven by stronger sales in Europe, raising hopes the company can end two consecutive years of annual sales declines in 2026.
