Telecom Egypt, the first integrated telecom operator in Egypt, and one of the largest submarine cable operators in the region announced the start-up of the first EG-IX Internet traffic exchange center in Egypt in cooperation with AMS-IX, with the aim of enhancing the digital experience of Internet users in Egypt, Africa, and the Middle East.
EG-IX is hosted within Telecom Egypt's Regional Data Center (RDH), which is the largest international data center in Egypt and holds Tier III certifications in the categories of Tier III Facility and Operational Sustainability (Tier III). Operational) from the Uptime Institute.
The Egyptian center also connects to 14 submarine cable systems through the company's advanced infrastructure, and the number is expected to increase to 25 systems by 2025.
It will be managed by IX-as-a-Service (IXaaS) technology, which supports AMS-IX by providing the latest solutions for building the Exchange Center for Internet traffic.
