The official Israeli Broadcasting Authority (Kan) reported that the Israeli government is considering releasing Palestinian prisoners convicted of killing Israelis in the upcoming prisoner exchange deal.

Israeli Channel 12 said that the head of the Mossad will meet again with the Qatari Prime Minister in a European country in the coming days, as part of negotiations to renew the prisoner exchange deal between Israel and the Hamas movement.

For its part, the Hamas movement confirmed last Saturday its full commitment not to open any negotiations on the exchange of prisoners unless the war on the Palestinian people stops once and for all.

In the same context, the Israeli "Walla" website reported that Mossad chief David Barnea met on Saturday evening with the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, in a European country, and they discussed reactivating talks to release Israeli detainees held by Hamas.

The American website "Axios", citing two informed sources, revealed that the importance of this meeting lies in that it will be the first between senior Israeli officials (the director of the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad) and the Qataris since the collapse of the ceasefire that lasted seven days, which was followed by the expansion of the Israeli military operation into southern Gaza.

According to the same sources, Israel's return to the negotiating table indicates that it is ready to try to explore a new prisoner exchange deal.
